Welcome back to Ruben Bautista, who has decided to re-join the Crowhurst lab to do his MS Biochemistry thesis research! Ruben will be continuing the work of Hiep Nguyen, who graduated in the summer.
Welcome once again to Toryan Georgian, who has decided to continue as a research student in the Crowhurst lab! Her project will continue the work that was done by Nick Mead before he graduated.
Today the university held its commencement ceremony for graduating students in the College of Science and Mathematics. This included several of our lab members! Demi De La Vara and Ruben Bautista received their MS Biochemistry degrees and Nick Mead received his MS Biochemistry degree. Congratulations to everyone – we celebrate your hard work!
This afternoon, our lab member Nick Mead presented his thesis research in a seminar to the department, marking his completion of his MS Biochemistry degree. We threw a small party afterward to celebrate – congratulations, Nick!
Karin and Hiep have published a research article! The article, titled “Solution NMR chemical shift assignment of apo and molybdate-bound ModA at two pHs” has been published on the Biomolecular NMR Assignments site (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12104-024-10173-7). It will soon be assigned to an issue of the journal.
Former student Akemi Hinzer is in the news (https://www.pasadenastarnews.com/2024/04/13/jpl-eager-for-clipper-launch-to-a-jupiter-moon-but-theres-the-six-hours-of-terror-it-faces/)! She currently works at JPL and will soon be leaving for Cape Canaveral as a Planetary Protection Specialist to get the Europa Clipper ready for launch. Exciting work, Akemi!
Today graduate student Beth Allen joined our research group! She will be a joint student with the lab of Dr Abrol, and will do a combination wetlab / computational project. We are excited to welcome Beth to our group!
